Catshill Dance Centre

The International Dance Teachers' Association, which we all are qualified with, every year award a Scholarship in 2 age groups for Freestyle Medalists.

If an Examiner at any Medal Examination Day wishes to, they can nominate a Medalist for the Auditions held in May. At our last Medal Test the Examiner nominated 2 of our dancers: Amy Rutter and Jasmine Hopper. We are delighted and we all wish them lots of luck for next May.

Celebrating our 40th Anniversary

Catshill Dance Centre is celebrating over 40 years in business.

Don and Diane started an Adults Ballroom and Latin Class on Thursday 12th October 1971 and on the Saturday Morning a Dance Class for Children.

From these two classes we have built a full-time School teaching Ballroom, Latin, Modern Sequence, Salsa, Argentine Tango and Belly Dancing. Also Freestyle, Streetdance and Rock & Roll.

We cannot calculate the number of pupils we have taught in either Social Dancing or Medal Work, together with the training Professionals in all branches.

Diane, who is now Principal, says "we look forward to the next 40 years in business".

Showcase Presentation

At our recent Showcase Presentation we had two very special presentations.

Our own Dance Consultants, Heather Waldron and Liz Mois, received their certificates for successfully passing, with very high marks, further Dance Degrees.

Heather, Associate Ballroom and Liz, Associate Latin.

Congratulations to Heather and Liz, and to all those receiving their dance medals.

Showcase Presentation

A Showcase Presentation was held at the Catshill Dance Centre in June 2011.

The audience of parents, grandparents and friends watched the children, who were beautifully turned out, demonstrate Ballroom, Latin, Salsa, Freestyle, Streetdance and Rock & Roll.

Winner of the I.D.T.A. W.J. Tasker Student of the Year Award

One of the Catshill Dance Centre's Dance Consultants, Vicky Sketchley, was presented with the I.D.T.A. W.J. TASKER STUDENT of the YEAR AWARD, by President Mr. Richard Hopkins, at the Midlands Area Meeting held at Brierley Hill.

This annual award is presented to any candidate who has taken a Student examination and has achieved a high mark. They are then invited to submit an essay, which is judged by the Faculty Chairman. All branches of dance are eligible, and Vicky's was in the Freestyle Branch.

She has since qualified as an Associate in Freestyle. Diane, Principal, is very proud of Vicky's achievement.
